The 88th Euchre league season came abruptly to an end for the Norsk Pranksters on March 21st, after they experienced a 24-point acceleration from the Harley Blue Express. With five lead changes, it would be an understatement to say this was a close match. After the first frame, the Pranksters were down by 2 points. By the end of the second frame they were up by 13. Then after six, with just two frames left, the score was tied. At that point you could feel the heat starting to build in the boilers aboard the Express as Harley Blue built a 10-point lead going into the final frame, where the Pranksters gave up an additional 14 points. The high score of 108 points was shoveled in by Dave Steinhauer and Dale Herfel. Chris Hook and Dean Herfel ended the night with the low score of just 70 points.
So, just like the NCAA Tournament, we are down to the sweet sixteen. As eight players from Harley Blue will match the horsepower of the Express against the Norsk Cowboys’ eight stallions. The match between the Cowboys and the Express for the 2018/2019 Championship will be played on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at 7:00 p.m., at the Norsk Golf Club in Mount Horeb. This should be an exciting match as the Cowboys have been League Champs five times since 2000, and the Express four times.
