New Glarus Boys Win Over Cambridge and Wisconsin Heights

The New Glarus boys led by just one point at the end of the first half in their home game on January 12th against Cambridge, 25-24. Coach Travis Sysko said, “We had a great team win tonight. I thought we played well and was happy with our composure down the stretch.”
The Knights never gave up the lead in the second half of the game, and won a close one with a final score of New Glarus 65, Cambridge 62.
Trey Taylor scored 22 points for the Knights, with three assists and one steal. Zach Feller put 14 points on the board, with one assist and three steals, and Austin Schlueter scored 16 points, with four assists and two steals.
The Bluejays leading scorers were J.T. Parish with 27 points and Brenden Jarlsberg with 15 points.
On January 15th the boys headed to Wisconsin Heights.
“We did everything right in the first half, with the exception of putting the ball in the basket.  We controlled the boards and took almost 20 more shots than Wisconsin Heights did just in the first half. Unfortunately, we only had a 2-point lead to show for it,” said Coach Sysko. The half-time score was New Glarus 27, Wisconsin Heights 25.
Sysko continued, “In the 2nd half, we started to get our shots to fall and were able to go on a 21-5 run to extend the lead and put it out of reach.”
The Knights won the game, the final score was New Glarus 68, Wisconsin Heights 45.
Gavin Binger led the team with 16 points, and had three assists and four steals. Austin Schlueter scored 12 points, and had two assists and one steal. Trey Taylor scored 10 points and had one assist and two steals.
Camden Parman led the Vanguards with 27 points. Tylan Parman scored 9 points and Danny Watkins put 5 points on the board.
New Glarus plays Marshall on January 21st at home and will travel to Waterloo on January 26th. The Knights are 3-0 in the Capitol South and 8-5 overall.
