New Glarus FCCLA to hold Blood Drive

Did you know that up to 20 percent of our total blood collections come from young people like high school students? That is why high schools that sponsor American Red Cross blood drives make a vital contribution to the community. Not only do these blood drives help maintain an adequate blood supply, they also provide students the opportunity to change lives and develop valuable leadership skills.  By holding a blood drive on the school grounds, students are more likely to donate for the first time because it is a familiar environment to them.
Many high school students will be donating at the FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America) blood drive on Monday, June 1, 2015, at the New Glarus High School Gym.  This drive is being done by appointment only to allow a smaller, more controlled environment for the large number of first time donors.  Appointments are still available from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and can be made by either emailing Kerry McCoy at kerry.mccoy@ngsd.k12.wi.us, Justine Romich at justine.romich@ngsd.k12.wi.us, Monica Schober at monica.schober@ngsd.k12.wi.us or by calling (608) 527-2410 ext. 4158. This will give the New Glarus High School Students and our community the opportunity to each save up to six lives over the summer.
