Monticello/New Glarus Softball Wins Over Black Hawk

The Monticello/New Glarus varsity softball team hosted Black Hawk in Monticello on April 19th. Black Hawk had an early lead, but M/NG put four runners over home plate in the 3rd and then two more in the 5th to sneak past the Warriors and win the game. The final score was M/NG 6, Black Hawk 5.
Katelyn Eyler was 3x3 at bat with 1 run and 2 RBI, while Riley Keehn went 2x3 with 1 RBI, Dalana Trumpy was 1x3 with 1 run scored and Karlee Wilkins was 1x3 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI. Melanie Fink and Kira Whisler scored the other 2 runs.
Tatum O’Bel and Kira Whisler pitched for M/NG. Whisler struck out 6.
On April 21st, Monticello/New Glarus played Benton/Shullsburg in Shullsburg. It was a close game until B/S took the lead in the 4th, and even though M/NG scored 2 runs in the 7th, they lost by 1. The final score was Benton/Shullsburg 6, Monticello/New Glarus 5.
Melanie Fink was 1x3 with 2 runs scored, while Dalana Trumpy was 1x4 with 1 run scored. Brea McCoy also scored 1 run.
Jaden Zuber and Tatum O’Bel shared the mound with Zuber striking out 2.
On April 23rd, M/NG played two games. The first game they lost 0-12 to Mineral Point and the second game they lost 0-4 to Benton/Shullsburg.
Mineral Point held M/NG to just two hits during the game, which were made by Melanie Fink and Grace Seffrood.
Jaden Zuber and Kira Whisler shared pitching duties with Zuber striking out 2.
Benton/Shullsburg also held Monticello/New Glarus to 2 hits, which were made by Katelyn Eyler and Brea McCoy.
Tatum O’Bel pitched, striking out 2.
M/NG hosted Argyle in Monticello on April 25th and played at Juda/Albany in Juda on April 26th. They will play at Highland on April 28th.
