Yoga Study for the Older Adult Population

Researchers at UW-Madison, in collaboration with the ADRC of Southwest Wisconsin, will be conducting a study to examine the effect of yoga on healthy aging.
We are looking for volunteers willing to participate in a 12-week chair yoga class at the Village Hall in New Glarus. Each class will be modified to your abilities and will be taught by a registered yoga instructor. This research will involve an assessment before, after and three months following the end of the yoga class. The assessments will be administered by researchers from UW-Madison and will examine measures such as fall risk, activities of daily living, activity level, balance and gait. Assessments will take place at the Village Hall in New Glarus before June 18th.
Adults 60 years and older with limited yoga experience, a history of a fall or fear of falling and who are able to walk for 10 minutes are encouraged to apply.
Classes are free. Transportation assistance is available upon request. Eligible individuals will be randomly assigned to begin a class in mid-June or in early September. All sessions run for 12 weeks.
