Wildcats Fall to Deerfield on the Road, 37-14

The Belleville Wildcat football team lost to Deerfield on the road, 37-14.
“Our game Friday night against Deerfield did not go as I had expected. We are a much better team than what we showed on Friday. We came out and drove the ball down the field with very little problems to get the first score of the game. After that, turnovers hurt us a lot,” said Head Coach Justin Blackburn. “This week we will focus on ball security in practice. Our defense did play pretty well considering the score. We only allowed 30 rushing yards but had some miscommunication with our coverage that led to a few long scores for them through the air. We will be working on that this week in practice as well.”
Belleville’s two touchdowns were thrown by Dan Meier; the first was a seven-yard pass to Nick Richter, and the second was a 16-yard pass to Reese Denure.
The Wildcats had 224 total passing yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions while they rushed for 79 total yards.
Meier led the field with 224 passing yards and 33 rushing yards. Cade Martin was the receiving leader with 79 yards.
At home on Friday, Aug. 28, the Belleville football team will matchup with Parkview. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
