Sugar River Euchre

Would it be Kleeman's or Norsk Golf Bowl to open an early Christmas present on December 22? The prize, an opportunity to play in the 86th Sugar River Euchre League Championship Match at the end of the season. With both teams losing only two matches in the first half of the season, a playoff match was needed to determine the winner of the first half. Norsk Golf Bowl incurred their two losses at the hands of Hooterville-Express on October 27th and Jones' Plumbing on November 17th, while Kleeman's losses were issued by Norsk Golf Bowl on November 10th and Eagle Heights on December 8th. To determine where the playoff match would be held, team captains Harold Schlimgen and Jerry Judd drew for high card before the start of the mid-winter tournament at Kleeman's Bar & Grill in New Glarus on December 15th. With Harold winning the cut, the playoff match would be held at Norsk Golf Bowl in Mount Horeb, home of the Cowboys.
The evening began with hints of a match that would come down to the final game. But by the fifth round, the needle dove deeper and deeper into the hay stack until there was no hope of the Hay-Shakers finding it and pulling it out. The Cowboys won by 58 points to secure the first spot in the Championship match.
High score for the Hay-Shakers went to Jeff and Jerry Judd with 106 points, the only Hay-Shakers to reach the 100-point mark. All four Cowboy couples shot over 100 points into their targets. But it was Marvin Thompson and Dave Wilborn that placed the biggest brand on the Hay-Shakers. They secured the victory for the Norsk-Cowboys, losing only two games while accumulating 33 points more than their opponents and raked in the high score of the match of 115 points. The low score, 78 points, was shaken out by Steve Sponem and Don Williams.
The second half of the season will begin on January 5th, with all 10 teams starting with a clean slate. Who will claim the second spot in the championship match?
