Two teams remain tied for first place four weeks into the season; just last week there were six. One of those teams, Hooterville, got the Express back on track and then proceeded to push the Norsk-Cowboys down the rail rustling 22 longhorns along the way. Dave Wilborn and Tom Nitwander (Cowboys) were low on the totem pole this week with 71 points. Jones’ Plumbing will be busy repairing the 31 leaks created after the 5th Quarter-Shufflers burst a few pipes of their own. Before the cards were even dealt, the Shufflers knew they had to win to remain tied for first place. However, both Hooterville and 5th Quarter realize there are plenty of cards yet to be played and are determined to stay focused on their next opponent.
The S’wisco Taphaus got on the right side of the tally sheet when all four Cheese-Eater couples “wheyed” in with more than 100 points. After going through two terrible weeks, Giff Hoesly was ecstatic when he and his partner, Brett Hoesly, devoured 119 lbs. of cheese for this week’s high score. Stan Novotny and Neil Fargo were the fliers to stop Giff and Brett’s perfect evening in the second game of the match. The Cheese-Eaters survived the threat by running 20 points ahead of the Screaming Eagles. Steve Sponem redeemed himself after recording last week’s low score. He and his partner, Jeff Goebler, recorded this week’s second high score of 117 points. This gave the Hay-Shakers just enough to wiggle past the Norsk-Pranksters by 6 points. The J&M River-Rats found something to gnaw on at It’s Time in Verona. The Rats took an early treat and never looked back as they outmaneuvered the Mounties by 26 points, placing them in a six way tie for third place.
