Belleville’s Band Selected for Brewers “Band Night”

The Belleville High School (BHS) Band was recently selected to play the National Anthem for “Band Night” hosted by the Milwaukee Brewers. On September 17th, under the direction of BHS Band Director Stephanie Meir, students took the field to play for thousands of Brewers fans – and some of their own! Belleville High School sent two fan buses to the event to support their musicians.
The Belleville band earned the privilege to play the National Anthem at the game based on their audition tape sent into the Brewers organization last spring. The band students, Mrs. Meir and the larger Belleville community were thrilled to have the honor this fall of entertaining baseball fans before cheering on the Brewers against the Phillies themselves.
Band Director Meir reflects, “This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the band students. The students had so much fun being behind the scenes and on the field at American Family Field, playing for thousands of fans. Thank you to the Brewers organization for giving us this opportunity and to the parents and community members who came to support us that evening!”
To prepare for an event like this takes lots of practice, but it also takes a lot of organization behind the scenes. Over the summer, Belleville Band students used ticket sales as a fundraising event for their music program and participating in “Band Night” was a meaningful way to garner further support for high school music and entertain on a state and national level. The two fan buses also enabled their “home team” to come and enjoy their students’ musical talent and baseball all in one setting! The band’s energy (and nerves) before the event were palpable to all who came out in support, but students played their hearts out when they took the field.
The Belleville High School Band students, their director, and the School District of Belleville are grateful to the Brewers organization for selecting them to play – creating memories that will last a lifetime for musicians and fans alike!
