Raiders Wrestling Starts Season

On November 30th, the Sugar River Raiders wrestling team hosted Pecatonica/Argyle in Belleville. Sugar River lost the dual by three points, 30-33.
Sugar River’s Ryker Swenson, wrestling at 160 lbs, won by fall over Lucas Rue.
Wrestling at 170 lbs for the Raiders, Alex Zielinski won by fall over Drew Hendrickson.
At 182 lbs, SR’s Riley Weber lost by fall to Tayte Hirsch.
Carson Loshaw, wrestling for Sugar River at 195 lbs, won by fall over Levi Krebs.
Wrestling for Sugar River at 285 lbs, Isaac Erb lost by fall to Levi Paust.
Blake Endres, wrestling at 106 lbs for the Raiders, lost by decision to Aidan Gruenenfelder.
Wrestling at 126 lbs for Sugar River, Mason Mau won by fall over Trevor Doescher.
Wrestling for the Raiders at 132 lbs, Brennan Keyes won by fall over Korvin Ferrell.
Matthew Loshaw, wrestling at 138 lbs for Sugar River, lost by fall to Sammy Nelson.
Sugar River’s Avery Lettman, wrestling at 152 lbs, lost by fall to Kristian Orloff.
On December 4th, the Raiders competed in the Warbird Invitational at Darlington.
At 106 lbs, Blake Endres (3-2) placed 3rd and scored 18 team points. In round one, Endres won by fall over Boscobel’s Francis Hurley. In round two, Endres lost by decision to Darlington/Black Hawk’s Ethan Aird. In round three, Endres won by fall over Alexiana Garcia-Martin of Parkview/Albany. In the third place match, Endres won by fall over Mount Horeb/Barneveld’s Cole Cunningham.
Wrestling at 126 lbs, Mason Mau (3-0) placed 1st and scored 24 team points. Mau had a bye in round one and in round two, won by fall over Laconia’s Bryce Britton. In the 1st place match, Mau won by fall over Maddox Bries of Epworth/Western Dubuque.
Matthew Loshaw (2-2), wrestling at 132 lbs, placed 2nd and scored 14 team points. In round one, Loshaw won by fall over Dean Nelson of Epworth/Western Dubuque. In round two, Loshaw won by fall over Pecatonica/Argyle’s Korvin Ferrell. Loshaw lost in round three by fall to Darlington/Black Hawk’s Owen Seffrood.
At 152 lbs, Ryker Swenson (3-1) placed 2nd and scored 18 team points. In round one, Swenson won by fall over Darlington/Black Hawk’s Joseph Standaert. In round two, Swenson won by decision over Epworth/Western Dubuque’s Trayton Kurimiski. In the 1st place match, Swenson lost by fall to Laconia’s Colton Lovejoy.
Wrestling at 160 lbs, Avery Lettman (1-3) placed 5th and scored 7 team points. In round one, Lettman lost by decision to Tye Crist of Darlington/Black Hawk. Lettman received a bye in round two and in round three, lost by fall to Laconia’s Chas Glewen. In the 5th place match, Lettman won by fall over Pecatonica/Argyle’s Nathan Nickels.
Carson Loshaw (3-1), wrestling at 195 lbs, placed 3rd and scored 14 team points. Loshaw received a bye in round one and in round two, lost by fall to Darlington/Black Hawk’s Brady Horne. In round three, Loshaw won by fall over Levi Krebs of Pecatonica/Argyle. In the 3rd place match, Loshaw won by fall over Boscobel’s Hunter Steiner.
Epworth/Western Dubuque won the invitational with 223 points, while Darlington/Black Hawk placed 2nd with 177 points, Pecatonica/Argyle was 3rd with 119.5 points, Laconia placed 4th with 103 points, Sugar River placed 5th with 95 points, Mount Horeb/Barneveld placed 6th with 94 points, Parkview/Albany took 7th place with 61.5 points and Boscobel placed 8th with 35 points.
The Raiders host the Sugar River Raider Scramble on December 11th, at the Belleville High School. They will compete at the Alliant Energy Center on December 18th.
