Raiders Ranked Fifth in State

During the last three weeks of play, the Raiders have held their opponents scoreless and have a record of 11-2-1. With a six game winning streak, where they have outscored the competition 19 to 0, the Raiders were recognized for their accomplishments and are ranked fifth in the state by the Wisconsin State Coaches Association. The players realize this is a special season and their ability to play unselfishly and work as a unified team shines on the field.
On Thursday, May 5, the Raiders hosted Poynette/Portage. Precision in passing the ball up and down the field, while allowing Poynette/Portage only one shot on goal, gave the Raiders control of the match. Many players were able to contribute in this game and saw significant playing time. Senior forward Vanessa Narveson had two goals, while Nicole Sanders, Amber Sies, Esther Noriega and Aimee Sies also found the net for the Raiders. The defense recorded their ninth shutout of the season. In JV action, the Raiders won 7 to 0.
With convincing wins from both Raider teams it was a wonderful night to celebrate Teacher Appreciation. Each Raider player from both JV and Varsity chose a special teacher to honor. The teachers received a Raider t-shirt to wear to the game and were introduced with their player between games. Each teacher was presented with a heartfelt letter of appreciation and gratitude from their player. How wonderful to see current and retired teachers from kindergarten through high school celebrated for their skill and dedication.
Next up for the Raiders is the Swiss Kick Tournament, which will take place in New Glarus on Saturday, May 15. Both the JV and Varsity teams will be participating, with games starting at 9:30 a.m. for both teams.
