Raider Soccer Wins Regionals!

Another tremendous week of Varsity girls Raider soccer action in the books!! STRONG, stingy DEFENSE has been the key all season! Two more shutouts to add to the list of a school record 20 in 24 games, only allowing 5 goals the entire season!
On Thursday, the girls battled co-op Cambridge/Deerfield in the regional semifinal to a 1-0 win. With less than 3 minutes remaining in the game, senior Defender Julia McNamar found the net for the only Raider goal of the night! Lots of shots on goal by the Raiders, but a tough freshman goalie stood her ground!
The girls battled Platteville/Lancaster co-op on Saturday for another 1-0 shutout in the regional final. Francesca Schiro, with an assist from Reggyn Jelle, scored the only Raider goal 5 minutes into the game! Sugar River had 7 saves and Platteville/Lancaster 5.
The Raider girls now stand at 18-2-4 and will play at McFarland Thursday, June 6, at 7:00 p.m., for the sectional semifinal. Good luck girls, and great job thus far!
