New Glarus volleyball travelled to Wisconsin Heights on a dreary Tuesday night. The Knights struggled to find a rhythm in serve reception during the first two sets, both finishing 12-25.
Although storming outside, the third set provided the break in the rain that the Knights needed. Better passing forged the Knights to a 28-26 win. The 4th set was highly contested and competitive, and Wisconsin Heights ended up on top with a score of 25-17.
Emma Marty (sophomore, right side hitter) ended the evening with 7 kills. Grace Nommensen (freshman, setter) had 19 assists, and Ellie Eichelkraut had 5 digs.
New Glarus travelled to Rio last weekend for an 8-team tournament and a long, successful day.
The Knights started off the morning in pool play with wins over Williams Bay, Montello, and Ozaukee. Those three wins seeded the Knights #1 in the pool, qualifying them for the semi-finals vs. Rio, #2 from the other pool. The Knights jumped out to another two set win, earning a spot in the championship game vs. conference rival, Marshall.
Unfortunately, the Cardinals outlasted the Knights in two sets, leaving the ladies from New Glarus with the 2nd place finish.
The team played at Marshall on October 8th, and will host Parkview on October 10th and Waterloo on October 15th.
