New Glarus High School Presented ^The Pirates of Penzance^"

Last weekend the New Glarus High School presented the musical The Pirates of Penzance.
The musical takes lace on the coast of Cornwall, where a band of tender-hearted pirates (Levi Belknap, Ben Copeland) lead by their captain (Desi Delforge) prepare to bid farewell to their young apprentice Frederic (Michael Schieldt), whose obligation to serve them will soon end, as he is to be freed from the gang at Noon on his 21st birthday. Frederic's long-time nurse Ruth (Stacy Benoy) tells him that his whole life was based on an error she made when he was young - she was told to apprentice Frederic to a pilot, but misunderstood and handed him over to a group of pirates instead.
Having spent his entire life with the pirates, Frederic has never seen another woman and considers taking 47-year-old Ruth as his wife, though he wants to be sure she is beautiful (she assures him that she is) since he has no basis for comparison.
However, Frederic soon hears a group of singing maidens (Abby Marty, Kendra Wenger, Lily Tews, Luna Hakim, Tessa Sheridan, Bronwyn Mayhew, Callie Lahey) and upon spying them in the distance, realizes Ruth has mislead him. He proposes marriage to them all, and the most beautiful of the young women, Mabel (Tiara Owen), happily agrees. The other pirates soon arrive and excitedly express their desire to marry the remaining ladies.
These unions don't last long, though, for the girls' father, Major-General Stanley (Merrick Fong), arrives to put a stop to it all, objecting to the idea of having pirates for sons-in-law. Hilarity ensues as the Major-General enlists the help of some half-witted policemen (Tyler Durst, Aden Gobeli, Anderson Justmann) to join him in fighting off the band of pirates.
