New Glarus Habitat Groundbreaking August 27th

The public is invited to attend the gala groundbreaking ceremony marking the first Green County Habitat for Humanity build in New Glarus. The event is scheduled for Sunday, August 27, at 4:30 p.m.
Music and refreshments will be part of the agenda. The event will see a host of state and local office holders, clergy and local dignitaries as well as the recipient family as honored guests. The groundbreaking will be at the construction site at 200 First Avenue, New Glarus. There is no charge and everyone is welcome.
Green County Habitat for Humanity has built 22 homes in Green County, but this is the first one to be placed in New Glarus. Demolition on an abandoned house at the site is complete and contractors are already engaged in bidding and presenting plans at a fast pace, according to Carol Holmes, Co-Chair of the Construction Committee. Plans for construction include calling for many hours of volunteer labor in order to make the home affordable. There will be information for volunteering and sign-up sheets at the groundbreaking.
Habitat volunteers consistently report the experience is rewarding and fun.
