Nelson Named Semifinalist for National Merit Scholarship

On September 11, 2019, officials from the National Merit Scholarship Program (NMSC) announced the names of 16,000 semifinalists. Adam Nelson, a senior from New Glarus, has been named a semifinalist candidate. Adam is in a pool of less than one percent of U.S. High School seniors and has the opportunity to continue in the competition for one of 7,600 National Merit Scholarships.
Over 1.5 million juniors enter the National Merit Scholarship program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Qualifying Test, which Adam took as a junior. The National Merit Scholarships will be announced in the spring of 2020.
