Monticello Track and Field Team Competes at SR Invitational

On Friday, May 15, the Monticello track and field team participated in the Sugar River Invitational at Belleville High School.
The boys team placed eighth among 13 teams while the girls team took 14 out of 15 teams.
Sophomore Max Hoffmaster, sophomore Bryss Shover, and freshman Austin Blumer ran the 100-meter dash.
Junior Andy Yaun took fourth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.37 while teammate Hoffmaster competed in this event as well.
Yaun then won the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.85, and senior David Ruegsegger ran this race as well.
In the 800-meter run, senior John Zuber took third place at 2:07.66, and Ruegsegger participated in this event too.
Zuber then earned third in the 1600-meter run at 4:51.11, and senior Dylan Beckwith placed 11th; Ruegsegger competed in this event also.
Beckwith took eighth in the 3200-meter run at 11:18.59.
Senior Thorin Croushore ran the 110-meter hurdles, and he ran the 300-meter hurdles where he placed seventh with a time of 45.91.
Zuber, Croushore, Hoffmaster and Yaun finished third in the 4x400 relay at 3:38.44.
In the shot put, Shover took 11th place, and Blumer threw in this event as well; additionally, Shover competed in the discus.
Croushore participated in the boys pole vault.
On the girls side, junior Emilie Gietzel and senior Hallie Chicker competed in the 100-meter dash.
Senior Natalie Lehr and junior Marquel Hawthorn ran the 200-meter dash.
Running the 400-meter dash was senior Mackenzie Zanow and Gietzel.
Junior Ashley Risley took 17th in the 800-meter run, but she earned sixth place in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:01.14.
Senior Lilly Blum finished in 11th in the 800-meter run. Blum then placed fifth in the 3200-meter run at 13:30.56.
Chicker, Gietzel, Zanow and Lehr took 11th in the 4x100 relay.
The team of Blum, Hawthorn, Emily Koch and Risley participated in the 4x200 relay.
In the shot put, Koch competed for the Ponies while Lehr jumped in the long jump.
