Monticello Loses to Albany and Blackhawk

The lead was back and forth throughout the first half of the game against the Comets on January 19th, and the Ponies were only behind by 5 points going into halftime. Albany came out of the locker room and scored the first 4 points of the second half and Monticello never got any closer than 7 points the rest of the game. The final score was Albany 65, Monticello 50.
Zach Price led the Ponies with 14 points. Travis McCoy put 11 on the board, Braden Gafner scored 10 points and Jon Errthum scored 9 points. Errthum led the team in rebounds, with six. Travis McCoy, Braden Gafner and Peter Blumer all had three rebounds.
Tyler Dahl scored 21 points for the Comets. Cole Trapp scored 18 points and had eight rebounds and Logan Ross put 9 on the board and had six rebounds.
In the game against Black Hawk on January 22nd, Black Hawk started the game with a run of 12-0 to put the Ponies behind right away. By half-time, the Warriors were up by 37 points. The Warriors won the game, 73-17.
Jon Errthum led Monticello with 7 points and three rebounds. Zach Price scored 6 points.
Black Hawk’s Chase Stietz scored 13 points. Conner Meyer, CJ Leuzinger and Jeff Rufenacht each scored 12 points. Josh Meier had five rebounds, and Jacob Quinn, CJ Leuzinger and Jason Treuthardt had four rebounds apiece.
After eight games on the road, the Ponies headed back home to play Madison Country Day on January 25th and host Pecatonica on January 28th.
