Monticello FFA Members Complete Community Projects

Over the past month of school, several Monticello FFA members became involved with construction/remodeling projects that helped out their area communities. Both Monticello and Monroe benefitted from these various projects, including the remodeling of a baseball shed in Monticello and a playground at Monroe.
The Monticello Baseball Team had a storage shed that needed repairs. This idea was expressed to a variety of students and, over the past few months, these repairs were completed. The FFA members installed a new overhead roll-up door, placed new siding and trim on one of the shed faces, and added new shingles to the roof. Students involved with this project were Thorin Croushore, Darren Luchsinger, William Spahr, Alex Gutzmer, Kody Spohn, Antone Baumgartner, Jacob Pusel, Rebecca Wahl, Zach Price, Kolton Shulka, Kodie Skogen and Trent Siegenthaler. This project began as a responsibility of the Agricultural Mechanics class but was assisted with a few other classes as the school year came to an end.
Under the leadership of Mr. Bob Voss, another project was completed in Monroe for the Family Promise of Green County. An interest was shared with Mr. Voss about a need for repairing the current structure used as a play facility for this program. With a generous donation from Pro-Build and the Monticello FFA Alumni, the project proceeded forward. Monticello FFA Members Austin Skogen, Bryce Pence and John Zurfluh worked with Mr. Voss over a three-week period to complete this project during the morning hours. The project will provide a safer, more stable play structure that should last an extended period of time. Special thanks to Pro-Build, Monticello FFA Alumni, Mr. Voss, and Monticello FFA students for donations and volunteering their time to help complete these projects.
