MNG Swim Team Takes on Monona Grove

The Monroe-New Glarus swim team hosted Monona Grove for a conference meet on August 27th. The final scores were JV, MNG 47, MG 111 and Varsity, MNG 65, MG 105.
“We saw many fast swims,” said Coach Kendra Kalvin. “Overall, it was a great meet and the team is ready for the next challenge.”

The team of Mekenzie Hammer, Karley Michels, Alyssa Roelli and Morgan Erstad won the 200 SC Meter Medley Relay with a time of 2:09.05. Placing 3rd in the event was the team of Taylor Rufer, Peyton Yaun, Anna Newcomer and Samantha Schiro with a time of 2:23.62.
In the 200 SC Meter Freestyle, Morgan Erstad finished 2nd with a time of 2:19.18, while Kaitlyn Elgin finished 3rd with a time of 2:32.23 and Taylor Rufer finished 5th with a time of 2:43.78.
Mekenzie Hammer won the 200 SC Meter IM with a time of 2:31.46, while Karley Michels finished 3rd with a time of 2:55.36 and Elsa Schaefer finished 4th with a time of 2:56.90.
Francesca Schiro won the 50 SC Meter Freestyle with a time of 29.29 while Kendra Wenger finished 3rd with a time of 30.38 and Peyton Yaun finished 6th with a time of 32.45.
Mekenzie Hammer won the 100 SC Meter Butterfly with a time of 1:08.96, while Francesca Schiro finished 2nd with a time of 1:15.02 and Samantha Schiro finished 3rd with a time of 1:21.26.
In the 100 SC Meter Freestyle, Alyssa Roelli finished 2nd with a time of 1:06.17, Kendra Wenger finished 3rd with a time of 1:07.27 and Peyton Yaun finished 4th with a time of 1:12.03.
Anna Newcomer won the 400 SC Meter Freestyle with a time of 5:06.27 while Taylor Rufer finished 2nd with a time of 5:43.77 and Samantha Schiro finished 5th with a time of 5:55.33.
In the 200 SC Meter Freestyle Relay, the team of Kaitlyn Elgin, Kendra Wenger, Karley Michels and Francesca Schiro finished 2nd with a time of 2:02.12, while the team of Taylor Rufer, Samantha Schiro, Elsa Schaefer and Peyton Yaun finished 4th with a time of 2:17.99.
In the 100 SC Meter Backstroke event, Morgan Erstad finished 2nd with a time of 1:10.43 while Alyssa Roelli finished 3rd with a time of 1:13.95 and Kaitlyn Elgin finished 4th with a time of 1:16.07.
Karley Michels won the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke event with a time of 1:21.91 while Anna Newcomer finished 2nd with a time of 1:23.76 and Elsa Schaefer finished 5th with a time of 1:30.61.
The team of Morgan Erstad, Alyssa Roelli, Mekenzie Hammer and Francesca Schiro won the 400 SC Meter Freestyle Relay event with a time of 4:18.41 while the team of Elsa Schaefer, Kendra Wenger, Kaitlyn Elgin and Anna Newcomer finished 3rd with a time of 4:41.68.
The team’s next meet is at Milton on September 3rd and on September 5th they swim at Stoughton. The next home meet is against McFarland at the YMCA in Monroe on September 10th.
