Knights Hammered by Heights

The New Glarus baseball team traveled to Waterloo on May 6th, where they lost 10-1.
Waterloo was first to score in the bottom of the second, but New Glarus tied it up 1-1 at the top of the third. Waterloo then scored five in the third, two in the fourth and one run in both the fifth and sixth inning.
Andrew Nimtz and Jared Carney shared pitching duties for the Knights. They both struck out three.
Brandon Winder scored the only run for the Knights, crossing the plate in the third on an error. He was 1-3 at bat. Alex Goecke was also 1-3 at bat.
The Knights didn’t fare any better in Cambridge on May 13th. Cambridge held them scoreless and scored six runs in three innings.
Josh Gray and Brandon Winder shared pitching duties. Gray struck out three.
New Glarus couldn’t muster a single hit during the game.
On Saturday, May 14th, New Glarus played a doubleheader in Wisconsin Heights.
The Knights lost game one, 11-1. Heights came out right away and scored six in the bottom of the first, then added one more in the second before Matthew Jackson scored the one and only run for New Glarus in the top of the third, on a groundout by Hayden Latsch. Heights scored four more runs by the bottom of the fifth.
Andrew Nimtz and Brandon Winder pitched, with Nimtz striking out four. Hayden Latsch went 2-3 at the plate, with one RBI. John Chenoweth and Andrew Nimtz both went 1-2. The second game was more of the same, as Heights rolled over New Glarus 9-2.
At the end of the first inning, the score was 4-2 in favor of Wisconsin Heights, but New Glarus couldn’t get another player across home plate and the Wisconsin Heights team scored five more runs, four of them in the top of the seventh.
Jared Carney and Noah Zimmerman pitched for New Glarus. They both struck out four.
John Chenoweth went 1-3 at bat. Zach Frick and Noah Zimmerman each had one RBI – scoring Dalton Way and Hayden Latsch.
New Glarus hosted Belleville on May 17th and will host Waterloo on May 19th.
