On Friday night, October 6th, firefighters from New Glarus, Monticello, Belleville, Monroe, Juda, Mount Horeb and Brooklyn, as well as New Glarus Area EMS and New Glarus Police, responded to a report of a fire in Puempel's Olde Tavern on 6th Avenue (STH 39) in New Glarus.
The fire, which began in a fan in the men's restroom, spread into walls and the ceiling in places.
According to owner Chuck Bigler, outside of the men's restroom and a storage room, the bar suffered minimal damage. Lessia Bigler's business Plumfyre and an apartment upstairs had more extensive damage. More photos are available in the photo gallery on this website: http://www.postmessengerrecorder.com/photos.
