Dane County Fair Meat Animal Sale Supports Youth Exhibitors

The 44th annual Meat Animal Sale was held Thursday, July 18, 2015, at The Dane County Fair. The sale grossed $169,911.55, according to Dane County Meat Animal Sale Officials.
The sale attracted wide community support with a total of 112 animals sold, including 39 sheep, 51 hogs and 32 steers. Sheep averaged $5.58 per pound, hogs averaged $3.24 per pound and steers averaged $2.22 per pound.
The Grand Champion Market Barrow, shown by Kendyll Theobald of Mount Horeb, was sold to Kayser Ford Lincoln for a price of $7.25 per pound. Cate Machine & Welding purchased the Reserve Grand Champion Market Barrow shown by Nick Fahey of Belleville for $6.00 per pound.
The Grand Champion Market Lamb, shown by Brooke Ace of Oregon, was sold to Stoughton FFA Alumni for $11.00 per pound. The Reserve Champion Market Lamb, shown by Lauren Ace of Stoughton, was purchased by Woodman’s for $10.00 per pound.
The Grand Champion Steer, shown by Coltin Suddeth of Stoughton, was purchased by County E Locker for $3.75 per pound for a total of $4,826.25. The Reserve Grand Champion Steer, exhibited by Reece Theobald of Mount Horeb, was purchased by HyVee for $2.50 per pound.
The Top Ten Buyers at this year’s sale were: Woodman’s, $19.499.00 Wilke’s LLC, $13,211.00; Fahey Pump & Electric, $11,208.00; Stoughton FFA Alumni, $10,668.00; Waunakee Vet Service, $10,073.00; Landmark Services Co-op, $9,679.00; R.G. Huston Company Inc., $8,029.00; Hy-Vee, $7,522.00; Hoesly’s Meat Inc., $5,511.00; Vet Services of Wisconsin, $4,947.00.
