Belleville Wins Regional Semi-Final and Falls in Regional Championship

On Friday, February 25th, the Belleville Wildcats hosted the Poynette Pumas in a Division 4 Regional Semi-Final game.
The game was very physical from the start and saw Belleville getting in some early foul trouble in the first half, allowing Poynette to take a 28-25 lead into the locker room. After some halftime adjustments by Coach Pharo, along with some renewed focus by the team, they came out and played smothering defense only allowing Poynette a total of 17 points in the second half. They also used this focus to be assignment sound on offense, allowing them to score 33 points in this half allowing the Wildcats to walk away with a 58-45 victory over the Pumas.
Belleville was led by Ava Foley's 19 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals, Callie Smith's 11 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block, Alyssa Caskey's 9 points, Mickey Stampfl's 8 points, Kenna Edge's 6 points, and Maddi DeSmet's 5 points.
Then, on Saturday, February 26th, the Wildcats hosted the Pardeeville Bulldogs for a Division 4 Regional Championship game.
Coach Pharo noted that you could tell there was a lot of intensity in the air because both teams knew what was on the line. It was a very evenly matched game from the start, which saw Belleville go into the locker room with a 24-20 lead. The second half saw more of the same physically intense basketball, which saw Belleville not be able to finish some of their shots, and some untimely turnovers and fouls led to the Bulldogs walking away with an extremely hard fought 44-42 win over Belleville.
The Wildcats were led by Callie Smith's 14 points, 13 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists, Ava Foley's 10 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals, Kenna Edge's 6 points and 4 rebounds, Mickey Stampfl's 5 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block, Alyssa Caskey's 5 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 assist, and Maddi DeSmet's 2 points and 3 rebounds.
It was hard to see the season end, but the Wildcats accomplished a lot this season by earning a share of the Conference Title and finishing the season with an overall record of 19-7.
