Bantam A Takes Third in Tourney

The Avalanche Bantam A team traveled to Baldwin to take part in the Blackhawk Hockey Bantam A Tournament January 10-11. The opposing teams provided the Avalanche tough competition.
The first game, the Avalanche fell to Sauk Prairie Flyers 5-1, with Hayden Roth scoring the lone goal, assisted by Anika Einbeck and Tessa Janecke.
That night, the Avalanche took on the Crystal Lake Yellowjackets. The Avalanche dominated the entire game, shutting them out 6-0. Payton Stauffacher fired one from the blueline, assisted by Tessa Janecke, for a goal in the first period. Three Avalanche players found the back of the net in the second period, Cade Janecke, Tessa Janecke, and Alyssa Knauf. Earning assists were Hayden Roth (2), Anika Einbeck, Travis Edmunds, and Cade Janecke.
The Avalanche kept momentum in the third, scoring two more times by another slapshot from Payton Stauffacher and Tessa Janecke, assisted by Luke Kuberski. Goalie Heath Bear earned a shut out patch and recorded 23 saves while the defense did an outstanding job keeping the puck away from the net and holding the zone. The offense made great passes and plays.
Playing for second place in the tournament on Sunday, the Avalanche faced the reigning state champs Baldwin Blackhawks. Down 4-0 going into the third period, the Avalanche lit the lamp with two goals from Cade Janecke and Travis Edmunds. However, the Blackhawks responded with four more goals, defeating the Avalanche 8-2.
<strong>Squirt B 2-1 on Weekend</strong>
On Saturday, January 9, the Avalanche Squirt B team faced off against Dodgeville at the SLICE Arena. The boys played a great game and managed to pull off an 8-2 win. Scoring the goals were Evan Brendemuehl unassisted, Payton Hathaway assisted by Dylan Lewis, Dylan Lewis assisted by Jack Rikkers, Cash Anderson assisted by Payton Hathaway, Evan Brendemuehl assisted by Kyle Theorin and Jack Rikkers, Dylan Lewis unassisted, Dylan Lewis assisted by Payton Hathaway, and Dylan Lewis assisted again by Payton Hathaway. Lewis earns a Hat Trick and Hathaway earns a Playmaker for the game. Xander Obert recorded 19 saves in the net.
On Saturday afternoon, January 9, the Avalanche Squirt B team traveled to Waunakee to take on the Wildcat Black team. Still fired up from the first game, the Avalanche rolled over the Wildcats, 7-0. Scoring the goals were DJ Rath unassisted, DJ Rath assisted by Dylan Lewis, Payton Hathaway unassisted, Dylan Lewis unassisted, Evan Brendemuehl unassisted, Jack Rickkers unassisted, and Payton Hathaway assisted by Cameron Newcomer. Carson Buholzer recorded 7 saves in the net.
On Sunday morning, January 10, the Avalanche Squirt B team hosted the Beloit Blades. After a hard fought battle, the Avalanche would fall 1-4. The lone goal came from Payton Hathaway assisted by Evan Brendemuehl and Cash Anderson. Xander Obert recorded 8 saves in the net.
