Avalanche Fall to Panthers

The game that the Monroe Avalanche Co-op hockey team was to play against Stevens Point Pacelli was postponed due to the weather on January 17th, so the team had a nice little break before they hosted Oregon on Friday, January 20th.
“Cohesively, as a team, this was one of the best games we’ve played to date,” stated Coach Josh Smith. “We controlled the game for the entire first period until Oregon put one in with 15 seconds left in the first period. We let up a little bit in the second and had two big collapses that lead to two (Oregon) goals.”
“Heading into the third it was a 0-3 game, and we turned on the pressure. Oregon put a fourth one in but we answered back with two to make it a 2-4 game,” continued Smith.
Travis Edmunds put the first goal in for the Avalanche and Jared Dillon, assisted by Cade Martin and Colton O’Connor, scored the team’s second goal.
“Then one bounced off of our own guy and went in and with 28 seconds left on the clock a soft one went in,” said Smith.
The final score of the game was Oregon 7, Monroe 2.
Heath Bear recorded 46 saves during the game.
“We had so many chances tonight but we just couldn’t get any of the bounces in front of the net, or the lucky breaks,” concluded Smith. “We’ve come a long way this season and every game we keep improving.”
The Avalanche played at Sauk Prairie on January 24th and will host Stoughton at 7:00 p.m., on Friday, January 27th.
