Local Severe Weather Safety and Spotter Classes to be Held

Green County Emergency Management announces that in-person severe weather/tornado spotters classes will held this year on Thursday, March 31, 2022. The first class will be at 1:00 p.m., at the Monroe Fire Dept. #1 at 601 W. 17th Street (by Badger State Ethanol), and the second class will be at 6:30 p.m., at the Juda Fire Department – Community Room, N2350 County Road S, Juda. Jacki Anderson and Cam Miller, Meteorologists with the National Weather Service, will be instructing the classes.

A Note From The New Glarus Police Department:

The New Glarus Police Department and the Village Hall have been receiving an increase in complaints reference dogs in the Village of New Glarus. The complaints are that dogs are running at large in the community, including the Village Parks. Dog feces within the parks and around the community is not being picked up by dog owners while out walking their dogs.

Lions Clubs Sponsoring Plastic Bag Recycling Program

Don't throw away your plastic bags, plastic bubble wraps, newspaper bags, plastic mailers, cereal box bags, plastic wraps for water bottles/toilet paper/paper towels, water softener bags. The New Glarus and Monticello Lions Clubs are sponsoring a community recycling program in their respective villages. In addition, the New Glarus Lions are teaming with the Middle School Student Council, which is coordinating the recycling within the New Glarus schools.

FCCLA Members Create Pillowcases for Ryan's Case for Smiles

Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) members Alaina Smith, Camryn Arnett, and Emma Mondloch have been hard at work sewing pillowcases! The trio has partnered with the Wisconsin Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (WAFCS) and Ryan's Case for Smiles to create hand-sewn pillowcases for children dealing with traumatic stress while being hospitalized. They partnered with NGSD staff and worked three separate concession stands in order to raise funds to purchase fabric. They ended up creating 128 bright and fun pillowcases for the foundation!
