At 3:47 a.m., on December 24, 2021, Green County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with Albany EMS, Green County EMS, and Albany Fire Department personnel, responded to the W2300 block of CTH EE, Town of Albany, for a single vehicle crash with serious injury.

Sexual Exploitation of Child Suspect Arrested

On November 5, 2021, the Green County Sheriff's Office received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children pertaining to the possession and distribution of child pornography, reportedly originating from a Village of Monticello location. As a result of their investigation, Detectives obtained an arrest warrant issued by the Green County District Attorney's Office for six counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child for Marcus T. Gordon, age 18, whose last known address was Shullsburg, WI.

Green County Market Steer/Market Heifer Weigh-In - January 8, 2022

The annual Green County Market Steer/Heifer Weigh-In will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Equity Livestock located south of Monroe, from 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. In case of inclement weather, the snow date will be Saturday, January 15th. An announcement will be made over WBGR radio prior to 8:00 a.m. on the morning of January 8th if the weigh-in will be re-scheduled due to inclement weather.

Lady Ponies Outlast Williams Bay

On December 21st, the Monticello Lady Ponies hosted Williams Bay. Down by a single point at the halftime break, the Ponies outscored Williams Bay in the second half to win the game. The final score was Monticello 39, Williams Bay 32.

Glarner Knights Overpower Ponies

On December 23rd, the New Glarus Glarner Knights headed south a few miles to play at Monticello. The Knights led 36-16 at the half and went on to win the game with a score of 66-38.
The Ponies took an early lead in the first minute and a half of the game, but New Glarus went on a 26-10 run shortly thereafter and stretched their lead to 20 by halftime. The Knights went on a 19-4 run in the second half to extend their lead to 35, and while the Ponies fought back with an 18-11 run of their own, they were unable to come out on top.

Sugar River Raider Wrestlers Compete at Dual Against Turner

On December 23rd, the Sugar River Raiders wrestling team faced Turner. Turner won, 51-24.
Wrestling at 220 lbs, Isaac Erb lost to Turner’s Hunter Grinke by fall.
Mason Mau, wrestling at 126 lbs, won over Turner’s Mekhi Ott.
Wrestling at 132 lbs, Sugar River’s Brennan Keyes lost by fall to Seth Silvis.
Ryan Degenhardt, wrestling at 138 lbs, lost to Turner’s Elijah Dever by fall.
Wrestling at 152 lbs, Sugar River’s Avery Lettman lost by decision to Johnathon Torsini.
Ryker Swenson, wrestling at 160 lbs, won over Turner’s Eric Halon by fall.

Lady Knights Drop One to Point

On Monday, December 20th, the New Glarus Knights girls varsity team hosted the #2 team in Division 4, Mineral Point. The game was tied at 26 at the half, but Mineral Point turned up their offense in the second half to win it. The final score was New Glarus 46, Mineral Point 58.
