Free COVID-19 Vaccinations and Education This Saturday

Throughout June and July, a collaborative community health team has offered pop-up COVID-19 vaccine information and clinic sessions at the Badger State Trailhead Pavilion at 425 14th Avenue, Monroe, near Veracruz Mexican Market, and plans to host its final vaccination clinic of the month this Saturday, July 31, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., a new date and time, with the goal of providing health education and community health opportunities to Green County and local Hispanic residents.

Exhibit of Community Maps at New Glarus Village Hall

The 'Mapping Our Community' exhibition showcases artwork created by local community members. The project, sponsored by the New Glarus Public Library, gave friends and neighbors an outlet for creative expression, allowing them to design highly personal images of their experiences in the year 2020. This exhibit reveals the challenges faced within the community due to the pandemic, as well as the connections that exist between people, even through times of isolation.

Belleville Raiders Win Streak Extends To Seven

The Belleville Raiders Home Talent baseball team won 6-3 over the Shullsburg Fever on Sunday, July 25th, at Badger Park.
Curtis Sheahan got the call on the mound pitching 7 innings, striking out 15, while allowing two earned runs. Brandon Moldrem came into the game to pitch the 8th and 9th innings, allowing one run, striking out three and earning the save.
Belleville gained the lead in the 1st inning on a Brock Gilkes 3-run homerun.
Sam Urquhart had a two-run homerun in the 4th, extending the lead to 6. Both Drew Haack and Brock Gilkes went 3-5 at the plate.

Book Signings Launch Anniversary Weekend

Two authors will be signing their books at the Swiss Historical Village on Friday, July 30, to help launch New Glarus’ 175+1 anniversary celebration. Both books make ideal gifts for residents and anniversary visitors who are interested in the story of New Glarus.
Duane Freitag, of Greendale, will sign copies of his <i>A Common Treasure</i> about the first ten years of the Swiss colony of New Glarus. Jesse Brookstein, of Madison, will sign copies of <i>A Perfect Pair: The History of Landjaeger in Green County, Wisconsin</i>.

New Glarus Lions Club Chicken Barbeque

The New Glarus Lions Club will hold their annual Chicken Barbeque at the Fest Haus, 106 3rd Avenue, on Friday, July 30, 2021, serving from 4:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m., rain or shine, dine-in or carry-out. There will also be an opportunity to donate used eyeglasses and hearing aids onsite.

We Invite You Back To The Center

The staff at Sugar River Senior Center would like to remind everyone that you are invited to come back in person to the senior center here in Belleville. We are ready for you! We have rescheduled your favorite activities, and we will take suggestions for new activities, too.
Case management, home delivered meals, and our medical supply loan closet have been available throughout the pandemic and remain available to all seniors in our service area. We are serving more people now than ever.

Several hundred people enjoyed music by the Zweifel Brothers on a lovely summer night at Belleville's Music in the Park in Library Park. Belleville Public Library sponsored the weekly concert series in July.

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville awarded diplomas to nearly 900 students from its three campuses for the spring of 2021. Because of COVID-19 no ceremonies were held, but will be rescheduled at a later date.
