Music in the Park

Music in the Park is back for the summer, and will be held every Tuesday evening in July, in Belleville’s Library Park from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. These concerts are presented by the Belleville Public Library. All concerts will be held rain or shine, but may be canceled or rescheduled due to severe weather. These concerts are free and feature music from a broad array of musical styles. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, a picnic dinner and enjoy the shows!
July 6: Ghosts in the Room - Americana Rock.
July 13: Back 40 - Country.
July 20: Zweifel Brothers - Polka.

RICHARD D. HARTWIG SR.

Richard D. Hartwig Sr., age 93 of Belleville, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born on November 12, 1927, at St. Mary's Hospital, the son of William and Evelyn (Tourdot) Hartwig.

STEVEN J. WILD

Steven J. Wild, age 69 of Madison, WI, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at his home. He was born on April 13, 1952, in Utica, NY, the son of John A. and Ruth Marie (Gjesvold) Wild.
Steven graduated from New Glarus High School in 1970, and then attended a trade school for printing. He worked for Walgreens at their distribution center in Windsor, WI, for many years until retiring. Steven enjoyed golfing, trips to the casino, playing pool, and cheering on the Packers. He was devoted to helping to care for his mother in her later years.

Clifford Klassy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Klassy, is on his way from New York to India, as a radio operator on a merchant marine ship.
Harold Elmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman J. Elmer, received his discharge at Camp McCoy last Saturday. He had been in service since December 5, 1945.
George Schultz, son of Mrs. August Klitzke, New Glarus, has received his discharge from Army service at Ft. Sheridan. He served in the M. P. (Military Police) in Japan over a year.

Schwartzlow Reunion To Be Held July 10, 2021

The Schwartzlow Reunion will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Putnam Park, 6th Street and W. 3rd Avenue, in Brodhead, WI, from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., with eating about Noon.
Bring a dish to pass. Table service, chicken, ham and bottled water will be provided. Spread the word to other members of your family.

All Americans love the Fourth of July, right? Wrong. Most dogs - whether they’re an Irish setter, Akita, Australian shepherd, or originally from any other corner of the globe - hate being in the U.S.A. on this holiday. The sudden and somewhat random bangs and pops that fireworks produce scare them half out of their wits.

Public Input Sought for WIS 69 Project, Monroe to New Glarus

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is seeking input on proposed improvements to WIS 69 from Bushnell Creek near Monroe to Cow Path Lane in New Glarus, in Green County. The improvement project is currently scheduled for 2026, but advanceable to 2023 if funding becomes available.

Monticello Track Goes to State

The Monticello track team sent three participants to compete in four events at the WIAA State Track Meet in La Crosse last week.
Rudy Wicker competed in the 400M Run and finished with a time of 54.48.
Evan Guenther finished seventh in the 800M Run, with a PR time of 2:02.08. Evan also competed in the 1600M Run, finishing sixth with a PR time of 4:35.92.
In the 400M Run, Hannah Clark finished eleventh, with a PR time of 1:01.13.

Blues, Brews and Food Trucks in New Glarus

A few changes were made to the Blues, Brews and Food Truck Festival held on Saturday, June 26, in the New Glarus Village Park, due to weather concerns. On Friday evening the festival kicked off with The Jimmys at Tofflers.
