Sugar River Girls Soccer Shuts Out Lakeside Lutheran

Sugar River girls soccer played Lakeside Lutheran in a rain storm on May 18th. The rain didn't slow the team down, and they won, 9-0.
First half scores were made twice by Jaylynn Benson, assisted by Riley O'Flanagan and Regyn Jelle, Kirsten Krantz assisted by Lily Maynard, and Bella Brenkman assisted by Kirsten Krantz.
In the second half goals were scored by Jaylynn Benson assisted by Lily Maynard, Regyn Jelle assisted by Kirsten Krantz, Paige Leonard, Kirsten Krantz and Gina Salmela.
On May 25th, they hosted Lodi and will play at Lake Mills on June 1st.

M/NG Softball Wins Over Black Hawk

The Monticello/New Glarus softball team hosted Benton/Shullsburg on May 20th. Monticello/New Glarus lost the game, 1-11.
Katelyn Eyler was 2x1 at bat, with 1 run scored, while Grace Seffrood was 2x2 and Alivia Palmer was 2x1.
Katelyn Eyler was on the mound, striking out 2 but giving up 11 runs on 15 hits.
On May 21st, Monticello/New Glarus hosted Black Hawk. M/NG took the lead early on in the game and Black Hawk tied it up until M/NG got a run in at the bottom of the sixth. The final score was M/NG 4, Black Hawk 3.

Wildcats Prevail Over Vanguards

The Belleville Wildcats baseball team played at Wisconsin Heights on May 20. Belleville won the game, 3-0. Belleville’s runs were scored in the first, fifth and seventh innings.
Gavin Boyum was 3x2, with 1 run, while Trevor Syse was 2x1 with 2 RBI and Owen Stoikes was 3x1 with 1 run. Anthony Nolden also scored a run.
Trevor Syse pitched all seven innings, allowing zero runs and only two hits from Wisconsin Heights, and striking out three.

Knights Victorious Over East Dubuque

The New Glarus Knights baseball team played at Marshall on May 20th. New Glarus lost, 2-3.
Leyton Mihlbauer was 4x2 at bat, scoring 2 runs, while Peyton Mendleski went 4x2 and Easton Dreyfus went 2x1.
Carter Siegenthaler pitched for 3.1 innings, giving up 3 runs and 3 hits and striking out 3, while Kylo Barker pitched for 2.1 innings, striking out 3 and giving up 2 hits, Peyton Mendleski pitched .1 inning, striking out 1.

Sugar River Raider Track Update

On May 18th, the Sugar River Track Team hosted a Capitol Conference Quadrangular. Along with the host team, Cambridge, Columbus and Poynette also competed. Cambridge was scored against Sugar River and Columbus scored against Poynette.
<strong>Women’s Results</strong>
Herioli Fraire won the 100M Dash with a time of 13.78, while Olivia Wenger placed sixth with a time of 16.56 and Madeline Miller finished seventh with a time of 16.58.
Katie Bowers won the 200M Dash with a time of 23.36. Herioli Fraire finished third with a time of 29.59.

WIAA State Track & Field Championships to Remain in La Crosse

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse have agreed to continue planning for the State Track & Field Championships at Veterans Memorial Stadium in La Crosse on June 24-26.

Ponies Track Team Competes at Blue Jay Invite

The Monticello Ponies track team competed at the Blue Jay Invite in Cambridge on Thursday, May 20. The varsity boys team finished in eighth place, while the varsity girls finished ninth.
<strong>Men’s Results</strong>
In the 100M Dash, Wade Noriega finished fifteenth with a time of 14.56.
Evan Guenther finished second in the 1600M Run, with a time of 4:47.92, while Braylon Hoesly finished sixth with a time of 5:00.34 and Ben Collins placed fifteenth with a time of 5:51.59.
Rudy Wicker finished second in the 400M Dash with a time of 53.38.

Pop-Up COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic at Green County Breakfast on the Farm

Green County Public Health and Monroe Clinic will be hosting a pop-up COVID-19 vaccine clinic at the Green County Breakfast on the Farm on Saturday, May 29th.
The 2021 Green County Breakfast on the Farm, hosted by the Green County Ag Chest, will be held at the Green County Fair Grounds at 2600 10th Street, Monroe. The pop-up vaccine clinic will be held in Barn #8. The vaccine clinic will be set up from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., or while supplies last.

Farmers Union to Hold May Chapter Meeting

The South Central Chapter of the Wisconsin Farmers Union will hold its next meeting at 7:00 p.m., on May 27, 2021, via Zoom. Cara Carper, of the Green County Development Corporation, and Andy Larson, of the Food Finance Institute, will be speaking about financial opportunities for growers.
GCDC was formed to bring professional economic development expertise to Green County communities and businesses. They work to build the economic future of Green County through public-private partnerships.
