New Glarus Fire Station to Be Utilized for In-Person Voting for Election on November 3rd

Village of New Glarus residents will be visiting the New Glarus Fire Department, 218 4th Avenue, for in-person voting on election day in November. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., on November 3rd.
Village of New Glarus residents can register to vote online at https://myvote.wi.gov, at the polling place on Election Day, or find a link to the application on the Village's website, https://newglarusvillage.com.

Outdoor Movie Night in Monticello

The Monticello Public Library is excited to present an Outdoor Movie Night on Saturday, August 29, 2020, in the parking lot of Zwingli United Church of Christ. The parking lot opens at 7:00 p.m., and the movie will begin at 8:00 p.m. Zwingli Church is located at 416 E. Lake Avenue, right next to the library. Drive or walk in to watch the film. You can bring your own seat if you wish.
The library will be showing a family film about a little girl from Hawaii and her new blue pet. The film is rated PG.

Lynda A. Cockroft, age 79, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2020, at the Columbia Health Center in Wyocena, WI. She was born on September 14, 1940, in North Platte, Nebraska, the daughter of Wayne and Matilda (Jung) McFadden.

Looking Back at ^News of the Men In Service^"

T/3 Arthur J. Elmer is now in China, according to a letter received here by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Elmer. He was formerly stationed in India and Burma. The trip to China was made in a truck over the mountains.
Pfc. Clarence Gessler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gessler, received his honorable discharge from the Army at Camp McCoy and is arriving home today. He left for service with Co. K. from Monroe, and went overseas in April 1942, was wounded in New Guinea and returned to the states some months ago. He has recently been stationed at Terre Haute, Indiana.

Governor Evers Appoints Deb Carey to Council on Tourism

Last week, Governor Tony Evers announced three new appointments to the Wisconsin Governor’s Council on Tourism.
One of those appointments went to New Glarus Brewing Company Founder/President, Deb Carey. In the Governor’s release it was pointed out that Carey has long been recognized for her entrepreneurial spirit, combining business management, marketing expertise and brewing professionalism to develop a world-class operation. She was recognized by President Barack Obama as a Champion of Change for her extraordinary contributions in her community and beyond.

Belleville Fire Department Holds Annual Fish Boil

The Belleville Fire Department held their 24th Annual Fish Boil on Saturday, August 22, 2020. Due to COVID-19, there were some changes to this year's Fish Boil. It was a held at Exeter Park in Dayton, and people drove through and picked up their dinners. There was an enormous amount of work that went into the event and nearly 700 dinners were sold!

Rotary Sponsors Giant ^Garage Sale^" at Grundahl Park"

Join Mount Horeb Rotary Club at the Grundahl Park Pavilion in Mount Horeb on Friday, August 21, and Saturday, August 22, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., for a giant “We’ve Outgrown the Garage” sale.
The joint fundraiser benefits a Home of Our Own, a local nonprofit that is building Prairie Haus, a home for adults with disabilities, working families struggling with high housing costs and seniors on a limited income, in New Glarus.
